I.LackofContextualizedInstruction: Onecommonprobleminvocabularyteachingisthelackofcontextualizedinstruction.Manylanguageteachersoftenrelysolelyonwordlistsorisolatedvocabularydrillswithoutprovidingsufficientcontextforlearnerstocomprehendandrememberthewords.Thisapproachfailstoenhancelearners'understandingandapplicationofvocabularyinreal-worldsituations. Strategies: -Incorporateauthenticmaterials:Teacherscanbringinauthenticmaterialssuchasnewsarticles,shortstories,ormoviestointroducevocabularyincontext.Thisallowslearnerstounderstandwordsintheirnaturalusageandencouragesthemtomakeconnectionsbetweenwordsandtheirsurroundings. -Usevocabularyinmeaningfultasks:Engaginglearnersinactivitiesthatrequiretheuseofvocabularyinauthentictasks,suchasdebates,presentations,orrole-plays,canenhancetheirvocabularyacquisition.Byutilizingvocabularyinapracticalcontext,learnersaremorelikelytorememberandapplythewordslater. II.InsufficientExposureandRepetition: Anotherissueliesintheinsufficientexposureandrepetitionofvocabularyitems.Learnersneedrepeatedencounterswithwordsinvariouscontextstoreinforcetheirunderstandingandretention.However,manylanguageclassroomsdonotprovideenoughexposureopportunitiesandfailtosystematicallyreviewvocabularyovertime.
