中国英语学习者中动结构习得研究 Introduction Inrecentyears,ChineselearnersofEnglishhavebeenincreasinglyinterestedinmasteringtheuseofcomplexsentencestructuresandidiomaticexpressionsinEnglishinordertoenhancetheiroverallfluency.OneofthemostchallengingsentencestructuresforChineselearnerstomasteristhe“动结构”(dongjiegou)or“Verb-ResultCompound”construction,whichisfrequentlyusedinspokenandwrittenEnglish.ThispaperaimstoinvestigatetheprocessoflearningandacquiringtheVerb-ResultCompoundbyChineselearnersofEnglishandproviderecommendationsforimprovingtheirproficiencyinusingthisstructure. Background TheVerb-ResultCompoundisasentencestructureinwhichaverbisfollowedbyanounoradjectivethatdescribestheresultoroutcomeoftheaction.Forexample,“Shelaughedherselfsilly”or“Hedrovehercrazy”.Thisstructureisfrequentlyusedindailycommunicationandliterature,butitisrelativelyuncommoninChinese,whichmakesitdifficultformanyChineselearnerstofullygraspitsnuancesandeffectivelyuseitintheirownEnglishwritingandspeaking. ReviewofLiterature TherehavebeenseveralstudiesconductedonthechallengesfacedbyChineselearnersofEnglishinacquiringtheVerb-ResultCompoundstructure.OnestudybyYang(2010)foundthatChineselearnerstendtostrugglewiththisstructureduetothedifferencesinsyntaxandsemanticsbetweenEnglishandChinese.AnotherstudybyLiu(2015)discoveredthatmanyChineselearnersusetheVerb-ResultCompoundincorrectly,oftenaddingunnecessaryprepositionsorparticles.However,bothstudiesfoundthatsystematicinstructionandpracticecanhelplearnersimprovetheirskillsinusingtheVerb-ResultCompoundeffectively. Methodology Inthisstudy,asurveywasconductedonagroupofChineselearnersofEnglish,consistingofbothintermediateandadvanced-levelstudents.ThesurveywasdesignedtoassesstheirunderstandingandproficiencyinusingtheVerb-ResultCompound,aswellastoidentifyanychallengesorissuestheyencounteredinthelearningprocess.Theparticipantswerealsoaskedtoratetheeffectivenessofvariouslearningstrategies,suchasexplicitinstructionandcommunicativeactivities.
