Introduction Pouch-typeenergystoragedevices,alsoknownaspouchcells,havegainedsignificantattentioninrecentyearsduetotheirhighenergydensityandlightweightdesign.Thesedevicesconsistofapositiveelectrode,anegativeelectrode,andaseparator,allcontainedwithinaflexiblepouch.Thecasingofthepouchcellholdstheelectrodesandseparatorinplace,providingmechanicalsupportandelectricalinsulation. StressAnalysis Thestressanalysisofthepouchcellcasinginvolvesunderstandingthemechanicalandthermalloadsthatthecasingissubjectedtoduringoperation.Mechanicalloadsincludeexternalandinternalpressures,whilethermalloadsresultfromthetemperaturechangeswithinthecell.Bothtypesofloadscanleadtostressconcentrationsandpotentialfailureofthecasing. Oneoftheprimarymechanicalloadsonthecasingistheinternalpressurecausedbythegasesgeneratedduringtheelectrochemicalreactionswithinthecell.Thepressurecanreachseveralatmospheres,dependingonthecell'soperatingconditions.Therefore,thecasingmustbedesignedtowithstandthispressurewithoutdeformationorrupture.
