Introduction: Thecorneaisatransparenttissueatthefrontoftheeyethatplaysacrucialroleinvision.Theaccuratemeasurementofcornealthicknessisessentialforthediagnosisandmanagementofvariousoculardiseases,suchaskeratoconusandglaucoma.Opticalcoherencetomography(OCT)isanon-invasiveimagingtechniquethatprovideshigh-resolutioncross-sectionalimagesofocularstructures.However,manualmeasurementofcornealthicknessinOCTimagesistime-consumingandpronetointer-observervariability.Therefore,anautomatedandaccuratemeasurementmethodishighlydesirable. Methodology: TheproposedautomatedmeasurementmethodforcornealthicknessinOCTimagesconsistsofthefollowingsteps: 1.Pre-processing:TheOCTimageispre-processedtoenhancethecornealboundaryandreducenoise.ThiscanbeachievedbyapplyingaGaussianfiltertosmoothentheimageandusingedgedetectionalgorithmstodetectthecornealboundaries. 2.Segmentation:Thecorneaissegmentedfromtherestoftheimagetoisolatetheregionofinterest.Thisstepcanbeperformedusingvarioussegmentationalgorithms,suchasthresholding,region-growing,oractivecontourmodels. 3.Boundarydetection:Thecornealboundariesaredetectedtoextractthecornealsurfaces.Thiscanbeachievedbyapplyingedgedetectionalgorithmsalongthecornealsurface,suchastheCannyedgedetectionalgorithmortheSobeloperator. 4.Surfacefitting:Thedetectedcornealboundariesarefittedusingmathematicalmodels,suchassplinesorcurves,toobtainasmoothrepresentationofthecornealsurfaces.Thisallowsforaccuratemeasurementofcornealthicknessatanypointalongthecornealsurface. 5.Thicknessmeasurement:Thecornealthicknessismeasuredasthedistancebetweentheanteriorandposteriorcornealsurfaces.Thiscanbecomputedbycalculatingtheperpendiculardistan
