Abstract:
TheapplicationofCVD(ChemicalVaporDeposition)diamond-coatedcuttingtoolshasgainedsignificantattentioninthemachiningindustryowingtotheirexceptionalhardnessandwearresistance.Thispaperaimstoinvestigatethecuttingperformanceandwearmechanismofsuchtools.
Introduction:
CVDdiamondcoatingisapromisingtechniqueforimprovingtheperformanceofcuttingtoolsbyenhancingtheirhardness,thermalstability,andwearresistance.ThecuttingperformanceandwearmechanismofCVDdiamond-coatedtoolsarecrucialfactorstounderstandforoptimizingtheirapplicationinvariousmachiningprocesses.
Methodology:
Toconductthisstudy,thefollowingstepswereundertaken:
1.Selectionofcuttingtoolsubstratematerial:Asuitablesubstratematerialwithgoodthermalconductivityandmechanicalstrengthisessentialforensuringeffectiveadhesionandperformanceofthediamondcoating.
2.CVDdiamondcoatingprocess:ThecuttingtoolsubstrateswerecoatedwithdiamondfilmusingtheCVDtechnique.Theprocessparameterssuchastemperature,pressure,andgascompositionwereoptimizedtoachievethedesiredthicknessandqualityofthediamondcoating.
3.Cuttingperformanceanalysis:Thecoatedcuttingtoolswereevaluatedfortheircuttingperformanceusingamachiningtest.Variouscuttingparameterssuchascuttingspeed,feedrate,anddepthofcutwereconsideredtounderstandtheinfluenceofthesevariablesonthetool'seffectiveness.
4.Wearmechanismanalysis:Theworncuttingtoolswereanalyzedusingadvancedmicroscopytechniquessuchasscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)tounderstandthewearbehaviorandmechanismsoccurringduringthemachiningprocess.
ResultsandDiscussion:
ThecuttingperformanceanalysisrevealedthatCVDdiamond-coatedcuttingtoolsexhibitedimprovedtoollifeandsurfacefinishcomparedtoconventionaltools.Thehighhardnessandwearresistanceofthediamondcoatingresultedinreducedtoolwearandenhancedcuttingefficiency.Furthermore,thetool'scuttingperformancewasfoundtobeinfluencedbytheselectionofcuttingparameters,withoptimalparametercombinatio
