高中生英语词汇学习策略研究 Introduction VocabularyisanessentialcomponentofEnglishlanguageskills,anditplaysasignificantroleinthefourmacroskillsofEnglishlanguagelearning:listening,speaking,readingandwriting.However,Chinesehighschoolstudentsoftenfaceproblemswithvocabularylearning,asEnglishvocabularyisdifferentfromChinesevocabularyintermsofstructure,grammar,pronunciation,anduse.Therefore,thispaperaimstoexploreeffectivestrategiesforChinesehighschoolstudentstoenhancetheirEnglishvocabularylearning. LiteratureReview EffectiveEnglishvocabularylearningstrategiesarecloselytiedtoone'slearningstyleandproficiencylevel(Gloria,2013).Forexample,somestudentsmayprefertolearnnewwordsthroughcontextandreading,whileothersprefervisualandauditorycues.Thus,strategyselectionisanindividualprocess,whichshouldbetailoredtomeetindividualneeds.Intermsofvocabularylearningmethods,somescholarssuggestthatstudentsshouldusemulti-modaltechniques,includingvisualmemorytechniques,semanticmapping,andrelatedwords,toexpandtheirvocabulary(Nation,2001;LiaoandWang,2019).Moreover,listeningtoEnglishmusic,movies,andaudiobookscanimprovestudents'listeningandpronunciationskillsandhelpthemlearnnewwords. Anotherimportantaspectofvocabularylearningstrategiesisthefrequencyandintensityofstudy.Studentswhofrequentlyandconsistentlystudyvocabularytendtoremembernewwordsbetterthanthosewhodonot(Kalyugaetal.,2004).Moreover,repetitionhasbeenshowntoimproveEnglishvocabularyretention,andthereforestudentsneedtoengageinactiverecallandpracticenewwordsregularly(NationandWebb,2011).Finally,studentsneedtoengageinauthenticlanguageexperiencesthroughsocialization,interaction,andcommunicationtoenhancetheirvocabularyknowledge(Scovel,1994).
