Introduction:
Foreignlanguagelearninghasbecomeanessentialpartofthecurriculumfornon-Englishmajors,especiallyforstudentsinvocationalcolleges.AsEnglishiswidelyusedasagloballanguage,itisnecessaryforstudentstolearnthelanguageinordertosurviveinahighlycompetitivesociety.However,manynon-Englishmajorstudentsoftenfacedifficultiesinlearning,whichcanleadtoanxietyintheclassroom.Anxietyisacommonproblemthatmoststudentsfacewhentheyarelearninganewlanguage.Itiscrucialtoexplorethecausesoflanguageanxietyanditseffectsonlearning.Additionally,itisnecessarytoinvestigatewaysinwhichteachingstrategiesandpsychologicalcounselingcanalleviateanxietyintheclassroom.

Individualfactorssuchaspersonality,motivationandself-esteemcanaffecttheextentoflanguageanxietyintheclassroom.Forinstance,studentswhohavelowself-esteemmayfeelintimidatedbytheirpeers’abilitiesandmaythusbegintofeelanxiousandoverwhelmed.Somelearnersareafraidofmakingmistakesinfrontofothers,especiallywhenitcomestospeakingEnglish.
Educationalenvironment:
Theeducationalenvironmentalsoplaysavitalroleincausinganxietyintheclassroom.Theteacher'sattitude,teachingmethodsandclassroommanagementcanallcontributetoastudent'sanxietylevel.Studentsmayfeelanxiousiftheydonotreceivefeedbackontheirperformanceoriftheyreceivenegativefeedback.Theymayalsofeeloverwhelmediftheteacherteachesatapacethatistoofastoriftheyarenotgivensufficienttimetograsptheconceptsbeingtaught.
