Keywords:intangibleculturalheritage,PekingOpera,culturalpolicy,protection,countermeasures I.Introduction Intangibleculturalheritagereferstoculturaltraditionsorexpressionsthathavebeeninheritedfromthepast,donothaveaphysicalform,andareconstantlyevolving.Asanimportantpartofnationalculturalheritage,intangibleculturalheritageisthecollectivememoryofasocietyandiscloselyrelatedtosocialidentityandcohesion.Itsprotectionisnotonlyaculturalissue,butalsohaspolitical,economic,andsocialimplications.Inrecentyears,withtheaccelerationofglobalization,theinvasionofWesternculture,andtherapiddevelopmentofscienceandtechnology,theprotectionofintangibleculturalheritagehasbecomeincreasinglyurgent. AsoneofthemostrepresentativetraditionalChineseperformingarts,PekingOperaisagenreofChineseoperathatcombinesmusic,vocalperformances,mime,dance,andacrobatics.Ithasahistoryofmorethan200yearsandisknownforitselaboratecostumes,distinctivemakeup,andstylizedmovements.In2010,PekingOperawasincludedintheUNESCORepresentativeListoftheIntangibleCulturalHeritageofHumanity,whichmadeitapriorityfortheChinesegovernmenttoprotectandpromote. However,evenwiththisrecognition,theprotectionofPekingOperaandotherintangibleculturalheritageisstillfacingmanychallenges.Therefore,thispaperwillanalyzetheculturalpoliciesrelatedtotheprotectionofPekingOperaandproposecorrespondingcountermeasurestopromotethesustainabledevelopmentofPekingOperaandotherintangibleculturalheritage.
