概念整合理论视域下的英语经济语篇中隐喻的认知研究 Introduction Metaphorsarepowerfullinguistictools,whichenableustocomprehendanddescribecomplexphenomenaandprocessesineconomicdiscourse.Metaphorsarenotsimplydecorativedevices;theyareembeddedintheveryfabricofthelanguage,reflectingthecognitiveprocessesthatliebeneathourunderstandingoftheworld.ThispaperwillinvestigatetheuseofmetaphorsinEnglisheconomicdiscoursefromtheperspectiveoftheConceptualIntegrationTheory(CIT).ThepaperwillfirstintroducetheCIT,followedbytheapplicationofthetheorytoeconomicmetaphors.Thepaperwillalsoprovideexamplesofeconomicmetaphorsanddiscusstheirimplications. TheConceptualIntegrationTheory ConceptualIntegrationTheory(CIT)proposesthattheunderstandingoflanguageandthoughtisbasedonintegratingvariousconceptsandelementsofinformationintoaunifiedcognitivestructure(Fauconnier&Turner,2002).Thetheoryemphasizestheimportanceoftheblendingprocess,inwhichdifferentelementsfromdiversedomains,orframes,arecombinedtocreatenewmeaning.Thisblendingprocessisnotsimplyamatteroflinkingframes;itisacomplexcognitiveactivitythatcreatesnovelmentalspaces,orblends,thatallowustounderstandandreasonaboutcomplexphenomena. CIThighlightstheroleofmetaphorsinblendingdifferentframesandcreatingnewmeaning.Metaphorsallowustouseourknowledgeofonedomaintounderstandanotherdomain,bymappingcorrespondencesbetweenthesourceandthetargetdomains.Suchmappingscanbeeitherconventionalorcreative,andtheyprovideuswithwaysofframingtheworldinnewways.
