Introduction TheSevenMileRiverSingleTowerDoubleCable-StayedInclinedSuspensionBridge(SMRSTDC-SB)isabridgethatspanstheSevenMileRiverinChina'sGansuprovince.Thebridge'suniquedesignhasmadeitamodernengineeringmarvel,attractingtouristsfromallovertheworld.Thebridge'sconstructionwascompletedin2016,andithassincebecomeanimportanttrafficarteryintheregion.Thispaperpresentsanin-depthanalysisofthedesignandconstructionoftheSMRSTDC-SB,highlightingitsfeatures,constructionchallenges,andstructuralmerits. DesignConsiderations ThedesignoftheSMRSTDC-SBwasachallengingtaskduetotheharshweather,strongwinds,andseismicactivityintheregion.Thedesignerswerespecificallytaskedwithcreatingabridgethatcouldwithstandtheseconditionswhilestillprovidingadequatesafetyforroadusers.Themainfactorsthatinfluencedthebridge'sdesignarediscussedbelow. 1.WindResistance TheSMRSTDC-SBislocatedinanareawithstrongwindsthatcanreachspeedsofupto40m/s.Tocounterthis,thebridgewasdesignedwithcurvedsteelgirdersthatreducewindresistance.Thegirderswerealsoconstructedwithastreamlinedshape,enablingthemtoslicethroughthewindratherthanforcingtheairaroundthem. 2.SeismicResistance TheSMRSTDC-SBislocatedinanareawithahighriskofseismicactivity.Towithstandearthquakes,thebridgewasdesignedwithasingletowerandtwocables.Thetowerwasconstructedwithreinforcedconcrete,makingitsturdyenoughtowithstandseismicactivity.Thecableswereconstructedwithhigh-strengthsteel,whichfurtherenhancesthebridge'sseismicresistance.
