Causesofculturallossofvoice 1.Curriculumdesign ThecurrentEnglishcurriculuminChinesehighereducationemphasizeslanguageskillsratherthanculturalknowledge.Thefocusisongrammar,vocabulary,andsentencestructures,neglectingculturaleducation.Additionally,thelackofexposuretodifferentcultureshindersthedevelopmentofinterculturalcommunicationcompetenceamongstudents. 2.Textbooksandteachingmaterials ManyEnglishtextbooksinChinaarewestern-centric,withlittlecontentrelatedtoChineseculture.Consequently,learnersmaynotrecognizetheimportanceofculturalknowledgeandlackopportunitiestolearnabouttheirownculture. 3.Teachingmethods Thewidespreaduseoftraditionalteachingmethodslikethefrontallecture,translationorrotememorization,failtostimulatelearners’interestandcuriosityconcerningculturaltopics.Teachersshouldadoptmoreinteractiveandlearner-centeredmethodsofteachingtoencouragestudentstoparticipateactivelyinclassdiscussions.
