Introduction Rehabilitationandstrengtheningofexistingconcretestructureshavebecomeincreasinglyimportantinrecentyearsduetotheagingofinfrastructureandchangesintheintendeduseofexistingstructures.Therehabilitationofconcretestructuresofteninvolvestheconnectionofnewconcretetotheexistingconcrete,creatinganinterfacezonethatispronetocrackinganddelamination.Theinterfacezoneisacriticalareafortheoverallstrengthandstabilityofthestructure,andthereforerequiresspecialattentioninitsdesignandconstruction. Thetransferofforcesbetweennewandoldconcreteisessentialtoensurethestructuralintegrityofthereinforcedconcretestructure.Thebondstrengthbetweennewandoldconcreteisprimarilyinfluencedbythepropertiesofthetwomaterials,thesurfacepreparationoftheoldconcrete,thecuringcondition,andtheuseofbondingagents.Previousstudieshaveshownthatthebondstrengthbetweennewandoldconcreteisoftenlowerthanthestrengthoftheconcreteitself,leadingtoprematurefailureofthereinforcedconcretestructure.Therefore,itiscriticaltodevelopeffectivedesignmethodstoimprovethebondstrengthbetweennewandoldconcrete. Objective Theobjectiveofthispaperistoproposeadesignmethodforimprovingthebondstrengthbetweennewandoldconcrete.Theproposeddesignmethodtakesintoaccountthepropertiesofboththenewandoldconcrete,aswellastheinterfacecharacteristics,andisbasedonexperimentalstudiesandnumericalsimulations.Thispaperalsopresentstheapplicationsofthepro
