Abstract：
AsasignificantancientChineseclassicalliterature,ShanHaiJingplaysanimportantroleinthetransmissionofChineseculture.Itcontainsalargenumberoffolklegends,myths,andgeographyinformationofmanyregionsinancientChina.Theculturalconnotationsofitslanguageareabundant,sothetranslationofitsculture-loadedwordsisofgreatsignificancetotheunderstandingofChineseculturebyforeignreaders.Inthisstudy,therelevancetheorywillbeusedasatheoreticalframeworktoanalyzeandtranslatesomerepresentativeculture-loadedwordsinShanHaiJing.Theresearchaimstoexplorethecharacteristicsofculture-loadedwordsinShanHaiJingandprovideareferenceforthetranslationofculture-loadedwordsinotherChineseclassicliterature.
Introduction：
ShanHaiJing,alsoknownastheClassicofMountainsandSeas,isoneoftheoldestChineseclassicliterature.ItmainlydescribesthegeographyandmythicalcreaturesofancientChinaandhasbeenhandeddownforovertwothousandyears.ThelanguageinShanHaiJingisvividandimaginative,andmanyofitswordscontainrichculturalconnotations.Therefore,thetranslationofculture-loadedwordsinShanHaiJingisofgreatsignificancetothetransmissionandunderstandingofChineseculture.RelevancetheoryisanewtheoryofcognitivelinguisticsproposedbyDanSperberandDeirdreWilsoninthe80s.Itemphasizesthattheinterpretationoflanguageisbasedoncontextandrelevance.Applyingrelevancetheorycanhelpusunderstandthecognitiveprocessesofreadersduringthereadingofculture-loadedwords,andprovideanewperspectiveforthetranslationoftheculturalconnotationsofShanHaiJing.
