LITERATUREREVIEW Thedesignofanelasticcammechanismisbasedontheprinciplesofelasticityandthegeometryofthecamandfollower.Thecamisdesignedasaneccentricdiskorcylindricalsurfacewithaspecifiedprofile,whilethefollowerisusuallydesignedasarolleroraflatsurface.Asthecamrotates,thefollowermovesalongthecamsurface,andthemotionistransmittedtotheoutputshaft. Theelasticcammechanismisusuallyusedinhigh-loadorhigh-speedapplications,whereasmoothandcontinuousmotionisrequired.Themechanismiscapableofabsorbingshocksandvibrations,andcanadapttodifferentloadswithoutdamagingthemachineorotherpartsofthesystem.Thedesignofthecamprofileandfollowergeometrydeterminesthemotioncharacteristicsofthemechanism,suchasthespeed,acceleration,andexcitationforce. DESIGNOFELASTICCAMMECHANISM TheelasticcammechanismwasdesignedusingCADsoftware,basedonthedesignprinciplesandspecificationsofthesystem.Themechanismconsistsofacam,afollower,andanelasticelement,whichisusedtoabsorbshocksandvibrationsandmaintainacontinuousmotionofthefollower. Thecamwasdesignedasacylindricalsurfacewithanellipticalprofile,andthefollowerwasdesignedasarollerwithaflatsurface.Theelasticelementwasdesignedasaspring,whichismountedbetweenthefollowerandtheoutputshafttoabsorbshocksandvibrations.
