高中课堂教学中运用英语阅读策略的研究的中期报告 Introduction AsEnglishisbecomingmoreandmoreimportantinourworld,itisnecessaryforstudentstolearnEnglishwell.EnglishreadingisoneofthemostimportantskillsforEnglishlearning.However,manyhighschoolstudentsinChinafinditdifficulttocomprehendEnglishtexts,whichhinderstheirEnglishlearning.Inordertoimprovestudents’Englishreadingcomprehension,differentEnglishreadingstrategiesshouldbeintroducedinhighschoolEnglishclasses.Thismid-termreportaimstoreviewtheliteratureontheapplicationofEnglishreadingstrategiesinhighschoolEnglishclassesandtodiscusstheprogressoftheresearch. Literaturereview Todate,therehavebeenmanystudiesontheapplicationofEnglishreadingstrategiesinhighschoolEnglishclasses.AccordingtoZhang(2009),Englishreadingstrategiesincludepre-readingstrategies,while-readingstrategies,andpost-readingstrategies.Pre-readingstrategiesareusedbeforereadingtohelpstudentsactivatetheirpriorknowledgeandsetgoalsforreading.While-readingstrategiesareusedduringreadingtohelpstudentsmakesenseofthetext.Post-readingstrategiesareusedafterreadingtohelpstudentsconsolidatetheirunderstandingofthetextandtomakepersonalconnectionswiththetext. WongandNunan(2011)investigatedtheeffectofEnglishreadingstrategiesonhighschoolstudents’readingcomprehension.TheyfoundthattheapplicationofEnglishreadingstrategiessignificantlyimprovedstudents’readingcomprehension.Inanotherstudy,Ma(2015)usedamixed-methodsdesigntoexploretheeffectofEnglishreadingstrategiesonhighschoolstudents’readingcomprehensionandvocabularylearning.TheresultsshowedthattheapplicationofEnglishreadingstrategiessignificantlyimprovedstudents’readingcomprehensionandvocabularylearning. However,somestudieshavefoundthattheuseofEnglishreadingstrategiesneedstobecombinedwithotherfactorstoimprovestudents’Englishreadingcomprehension.Forexample,Li(2017)foundthatthecombinationofEnglishreadingstrategiesandteacherscaffoldingsignificantlyimprovedstudents’Englishreadingcomprehension.
