OntheTranslationofEuphemisms BetweenEastandWest Euphemismisaneffectivelanguageexpressionthatiscreatedwhenpeopleareintenttorealizetheexpectingresultsinthesocialcommunication.Itiswidelyusedinallwalksoflife.Theutilityofeuphemismnotonlymeetstheneedofpeopleincommunication,butalsoplaysanimportantroleincoordinatinghumanrelationshipwithsocialrelationshipintheprocedureoflanguagecommunication.Thefunctionsofeuphemismmakepeopleexpressideamoreeasilyandmakecommunicationgomoresmoothly.Thispaperbeginswiththedefinitionofeuphemism,andpointsoutthatithascomeinneedofthelifeofsocialcommunication,andthenusessubstantialEnglishlanguageexamplestoanalyzethefivefunctionsofEnglisheuphemismincludingfunctionsoftaboo,politeness,concealing,positiveandpraising.Fromtheobservation,itisunderstoodthateuphemism,especiallyEnglisheuphemism,canbringpeopletothesuccessfulprocessofsocialcommunication,andcanbeautifylanguages,whichwilleasepeopletenserelationshipwiththeindirectandconcealingexpressions.However,whenitcomestoitstranslation,thereareseveralpointsthatweshouldpayattentionto.First,theEnglishslangtranslationofeuphemisms,slangeuphemisminproportionisrelativelylarge.Theemergenceofeuphemism,ofteninlifewhenpeoplecontacts,peopleappearawkwardandhardtotellwhetheroreasilyhurtthefeelingsoftheoccasion,peopleconsciouslyavoidedadirecthit,butwithmoremodest,yetelegantimageoftheword,twistexpresstheirviews,opinionsandemotions.ThisexpressionisfrequentlyencounteredinChinese,andsometimesinEnglishfortheverysamesemanticswiththesameorsimilarexpression.ThusmakingTranslation,maybethesametranslation.Second,theEnglishslangspellongamblingtranslationinEnglishandChineselanguages,allwithaswear,swear,sweartoprayfortheexpressionofstress,evilmonks,dissatisfiedwiththehopethatsuchemotionalwords.However,itisnoteworthythatswearwordshavemeaning,moreoftenthannotitsliteralmeaning.Therefore,thetranslationshouldbeusedfreetranslationapproach.Inthetranslationprocess,itisnecessarytoretainitsoriginalmeaning,butalsoverydifferentculturalbackgrounds,acco
