营养不良影响肠健康Childmalnutritionhaslong-termeffectsonguthealththataffectdevelopmentevenaftertreatment,astudysuggests.研究发现，儿童营养不良对肠健康有长期影响，即使经过治疗也会影响生长发育。AteamstudiedtheguthealthofmalnourishedchildreninBangladesh.WritinginthejournalNaturetheysaidthebacterialmake-upwasnotfullyrestoredtonormalafterfoodsupplementsweregiven.Theysaythefindingmightexplainwhychildrenoftenfailtogrownormallyevenaftertreatment.TheWorldHealthOrganizationestimatessevereacutemalnutritionaffectsabout20millionchildrenworldwide.Moderateacutemalnutrition,alessseriousformofthedisease,ismoreprevalentinSouthCentralAsia,whereitaffects30millionchildren.InBangladesh,morethan40%ofchildrenunderfiveareaffectedbystuntedgrowth.Stuntedgrowth"Friendly"gutmicrobesplayacrucialroleinextractingandusingnutrientsinfood.Ithasbeensuggestedthatmalnutritiondamagesthisprocess.Childhoodmalnutritioncanleadtolong-termproblemssuchasstuntedgrowth（生长萎缩）,cognitiveproblemsandweakenedimmunesystems.Inthisstudy,ateamatWashingtonUniversitySchoolofMedicine,StLouis,andtheInternationalCentreforDiarrhoealDiseaseResearchinDhaka,theBangladeshicapital,assessed64malnourishedchildrenagedfromsixto20months.MalnourishedchildrenwereeithergivenPlumpy'Nut,anenrichedpeanut-basedfoodthatisthemainstay（支柱）treatmentforseveremalnutritionworldwide,orKhichuri-Halwa,whichisproducedinBangladeshandhasriceandlentils（扁豆）asitsmainingredients.Bothtypesoffoodincludemilkpowderandmicronutrients,suchasiron.Theresearcherstookfaecalsamplesfromthechildrenbeforetheyweregiventhefoodsandeverythreedayswhiletheywerebeingtreated,whichusuallylastedforaroundtwoweeks,stoppingwhentheyreachedacertainweight.Sampleswerethentakeneverymonthforfourmonths.
