Chaptertwoexplainsseveralimportantissues.Thefirstistogivethedefinitionandcharacteristicsofcultureandcommunication,whichleadtotheconclusionthatculture,communicationandlanguageareinseparable.Thesecondisanoverviewofinterculturalcommunication.Thestudyofinterculturalcommunicationisamulti-discipline,anditcompasseseveryaspectofcommunication. Chapterthreediscussestwotypesofpragmaticfailureinverbal-communication,namely:pragmalinguisticfailureandsociopragmaticfailure.Intermsofpragmalinguisticfailure,failuresinlexiconandgrammarareillustrated;intermsofsociopragmaticfailure,failuresinwhattosayandhowtosay. Chapterfourgivessomeenlightenmenttoimprovelanguageteachingapproachesandconcepts.Inrecentyears,researchershavemadegreateffortstoimproveforeignlanguageteaching,anditisthoughtthatthepragmaticcompetenceofforeignlanguagelearnershasbeenimprovedalot.H
