Introduction: Fiberopticsensorsaretypicallydividedintotwocategories:intensitymodulation-basedandwavelengthmodulation-basedsensors.Intensitymodulation-basedsensorsrelyonthechangeinsignalintensityduetothechangeinsomeexternalparameter,whilewavelengthmodulation-basedsensorsutilizetheshiftinthewavelengthofthelightsignalduetotheperturbationscausedbythemeasurand.Wavelengthmodulation-basedfiberopticsensorsarepreferredovertheintensitymodulation-basedsensorsfortheirhighsensitivity,selectivity,fastresponse,andlowsusceptibilitytoelectromagneticinterference. WorkingPrinciples: Awavelengthmodulation-typefiberopticsensorcomprisesofalightsource,afiberopticcable,awavelengthmodulator,adetector,andsignalprocessingelectronics.Thelightsourcetypicallyemitsaspectralbandoflightthatistransmittedthroughthefiberopticcable.Thewavelengthmodulatoristypicallyadevicethatcanvarythewavelengthoflightbychangingtheopticalpathlength.Thedetectorreceivesthemodulatedlightsignalanddetectsthechangeinwavelength,whichisdirectlyproportionaltotheperturbation.
