Introduction: Magnesiumalloysarelightweightandpossessexcellentmechanicalproperties,makingthempotentiallyattractivematerialsinvariousfieldssuchastransportation,aerospace,andbiomedicalapplications.However,thehighreactivityofmagnesiuminchlorideenvironmentslimitstheirwidespreadusage,astheyarepronetorapidcorrosion.Researcheffortshavebeenfocusedondevelopingeffectivecorrosioninhibitorstoprotectmagnesiumalloysandenhancetheircorrosionresistance.Thisstudyaimstoexplorethecorrosioninhibitionperformanceoffourdifferentmagnesiumalloysina3.5%NaClsolutionusingvariouscorrosioninhibitors. MaterialsandMethods: Fourdifferentmagnesiumalloys,namelyAZ31,AZ91,AM60,andZE41,wereselectedforthestudy.Thecorrosioninhibitionperformanceofthealloyswasinvestigatedusingthreeorganic-basedinhibitors:benzotriazole(BTA),2-mercaptobenzimidazole(MBI),andimidazole(IMZ),alongwithacerium-basedinhibitor.Electrochemicalimpedancespectroscopyandpotentiodynamicpolarizationtechniqueswereemployedtoassessthecorrosioninhibitionefficiencyofeachinhibitor.Theexperimentswereconductedoverarangeofinhibitorconcentrationsandimmersiontimestodeterminetheoptimalconditionsformaximumcorrosioninhibitionperformance.
