Background.
CISprovidesbenchmarks,scoringtools,software,data,information,suggestions,ideas,andotherservicesand
materialsfromtheCISwebsiteorelsewhere(“Products”)asapublicservicetoInternetusersworldwide.
RecommendationscontainedintheProducts(“Recommendations”)resultfromaconsensus-buildingprocessthat
involvesmanysecurityexpertsandaregenerallygenericinnature.TheRecommendationsareintendedtoprovide
helpfulinformationtoorganizationsattemptingtoevaluateorimprovethesecurityoftheirnetworks,systemsand
devices.ProperuseoftheRecommendationsrequirescarefulanalysisandadaptationtospecificuserrequirements.
TheRecommendationsarenotinanywayintendedtobea“quickfix”foranyone’sinformationsecurityneeds.
Norepresentations,warrantiesandcovenants.
CISmakesnorepresentations,warrantiesorcovenantswhatsoeverasto(i)thepositiveornegativeeffectofthe
ProductsortheRecommendationsontheoperationorthesecurityofanyparticularnetwork,computersystem,
networkdevice,software,hardware,oranycomponentofanyoftheforegoingor(ii)theaccuracy,reliability,
timelinessorcompletenessofanyProductorRecommendation.CISisprovidingtheProductsandthe
Recommendations“asis”and“asavailable”withoutrepresentations,warrantiesorcovenantsofanykind.

ByusingtheProductsand/ortheRecommendations,Iand/ormyorganization(“we”)agreeandacknowledgethat:
Nonetwork,system,device,hardware,softwareorcomponentcanbemadefullysecure;
WeareusingtheProductsandtheRecommendationssolelyatourownrisk;
WearenotcompensatingCIStoassumeanyliabilitiesassociatedwithouruseoftheProductsorthe
Recommendations,evenrisksthatresultfromCIS’snegligenceorfailuretoperform;
WehavethesoleresponsibilitytoevaluatetherisksandbenefitsoftheProductsandRecommendationstousand
toadapttheProductsandtheRecommendationstoourparticularcircumstancesandrequirements;
