EAP研究述评 EAP(EnglishforAcademicPurposes)referstotheuseofEnglishlanguageforscholarlycommunication.EAPcoversawiderangeofacademiccontexts,includinglectures,readings,writing,research,andcommunicationwithpeersandprofessors.EAPisessentialforinternationalstudentswhoneedtostudyandpublishtheirresearchinEnglish. TheresearchonEAPhasfocusedonseveralareas,includingtheeffectivenessofEAPprograms,EAPcurriculumdesign,EAPassessment,andEAPteachertraining.OneofthemainissuesistheeffectivenessofEAPprograms.ResearchhasshownthatEAPprogramscansignificantlyimprovestudents'academicEnglishproficiency,enablingthemtofunctioneffectivelyinacademiccontexts.Forinstance,astudybyHyland(2006)suggeststhatEAPprogramsthatintegratelanguageandcontentinstructioncanleadtoimprovedacademiclanguageproficiencyandcriticalthinkingskills.Hylandarguesthatsuchprogramshelpstudentstodevelopadeeperunderstandingofdisciplinaryframeworks. AnotherareaofEAPresearchiscurriculumdesign.AkeyissueinEAPcurriculumdesignishowtobalancetheteachingoflanguageskillswithcontentknowledge.Severalstudies,suchasSwales&Feak(2004)andJordan(1997),havesuggestedthatEAPprogramsshouldbecontent-basedandlearner-centered.ThismeansthatEAPprogramsshouldfocusonteachingstudentslanguageinthecontextoftheiracademicdiscipline,ratherthanteachingthemgeneralEnglishlanguageskills.Thisapproachallowsstudentstodeveloplanguageproficiencyinthecontextoftheirdisciplinaryknowledge,whichenhancestheirabilitytocommunicateeffectivelywithpeersandprofessorsintheirfieldofstudy.
