CurrentSituationofEnglishCourseSettinginVocationalColleges ThecurrentsituationofEnglishcoursesettinginvocationalcollegescanbesummarizedinthefollowingthreeaspects. Firstly,thecontentoftheEnglishcourseistoogeneralandlacksrelevancetotheoccupationalrequirementsofthestudents.Vocationalcollegeshaveaprofessionalorientationandcultivatespecializedtalents,buttheEnglishcoursesofferedtostudentsareoftenbasedongeneralEnglishteachingmaterials,withalackofconsiderationforstudents’professionalskillsandoccupationalneeds.Asaresult,studentsmayencounterdifficultiesinapplyingtheknowledgetheyhavelearnedintheirfuturecareers. Secondly,theteachingmethodsaremonotonous,andtheteachingmodeistraditionalandpassive.ThecurrentteachingmethodsinEnglishclassesaremainlylecture-based,andthemodeofteachingisone-waycommunicationfromtheteachertothestudent.ThisapproachdoesnottakeintoaccounttheinteractivenatureofEnglishcommunication,whichmakesitdifficultforstudentstodeveloptheirlanguageskills.Duetothelackofinteractions,studentscannotlearnthemostimportantaspectofEnglishlanguage,whichistocommunicate.
