西部地区的经济发展模式与碳排放量增长关系的实证研究(英文) Introduction Withincreasingeconomicdevelopment,WesternregionofChinaisfacingunprecedentedchallenges.Ontheonehand,itenjoyscomprehensiveeconomicdevelopment,butontheotherhand,itisaccompaniedbyacontinuedincreaseincarbonemissions.Thispaperaimstoexaminetherelationshipbetweentheeconomicdevelopmentmodelofthewesternregionanditscarbonemissions. LiteratureReview Numerousstudieshadexploredtherelationshipbetweeneconomicdevelopmentandcarbonemissions.Forexamples,ZhangandYang(2018)foundthaturbanization,industrializationandthetertiaryindustriesarepositivelycorrelatedwithcarbonemissions.However,somescholarsalsoarguedthatthedevelopmentoflow-carbonemissionsindustriesandscientificandtechnologicalprogresswillhelptoreducecarbonemissions(Fengetal.,2018).Thus,wecanconcludethattheeconomicdevelopmentmodeloftheWesternregionwillplayavitalroleinitscarbonemissionsreduction. Methodology ThisstudyemployspaneldatafromprovincesintheWesternregionofChina.Datafrom2005to2015wereusedfortheregressionanalysis.Thedependentvariableiscarbonemissions,whichiscalculatedbyCO2emissionsperunitofGDP.Meanwhile,theindependentvariablesincludeurbanizationrate,industrializationlevel,developmentscaleoftertiaryindustry,theproportionoflow-carbonindustries,RD&Dinvestment,andenergyintensity. Results Regressionanalysisindicatesthatindustrializationandthedevelopmentscaleoftertiaryindustryarepositivelycorrelatedwithcarbonemissions.However,theproportionoflow-carbonindustries,RD&Dinvestment,andenergyintensityarenegativelycorrelatedwithcarbonemissions.Moreover,urbanizationhadaU-shapedeffect,whichmeansthatcarbonemissionsincreasewithurbanizationlevels,butafteracertainpoint,urbanizationhasanegativeimpactoncarbonemissions. Discussion ThisstudyconfirmsthattheeconomicdevelopmentmodeloftheWesternregionhasastrongcorrelationwithcarbonemissions.Fromtheresults,wecanseethatstrengtheningurbanizationandindustrializationhavepositiveeffectsoneconomicdevelopment,butthatwillleadtosignificantincreasesincarbonemissions.Ther
