Introduction: Openableroofstructureshavegainedincreasingpopularityinmodernarchitectureduetotheiraestheticandfunctionalbenefits.Thesestructuresprovidenaturalventilationandlighting,whilealsocreatingasenseofopennessandcomfort.However,thestabilityandsafetyofopenableroofstructureslargelydependontheperformanceofkeytensionrods.Theserodsareresponsiblefortransmittingtheexternallyappliedloadstothefoundation,andmaintainingthestructuralintegrityoftheroof.Therefore,thefailureofkeytensionrodscanleadtostructuralcollapseandseriousinjury.Inthispaper,weproposeavector-basedfiniteelementmethodtoanalyzethefailureofkeytensionrodsinanopenableroofstructure. Methodology: Theproposedvector-basedfiniteelementmethodisbasedonadisplacementapproach,wherethegoverningequationsofmotionarederivedfromtheprincipleofminimumpotentialenergy.Thedisplacementvectorisexpressedasalinearcombinationofthebasisfunctions,andthestiffnessmatrixiscalculatedusingtheGalerkinmethod.Thestressesanddisplacementsofkeytensionrodsarethenobtainedbysolvingthesystemofequations. Results: Theproposedmethodisappliedtoaspecificcasestudyofanopenableroofstructure.Thestressdistributionanddisplacementofkeytensionrodsareanalyzedundervariousloadingconditions,includingwind,snow,andearthquakeloads.Theresultsshowthatthemaximumstressoccursneartheconnectionoften
