Introduction: Urbancontrolsurveyisanimportanttaskinurbanplanningandmanagement.Itinvolvesawiderangeofmeasurements,includinggeometric,geographic,topographic,andelevation.GPShasbecomeanessentialtoolinurbancontrolsurvey,providingaccurateandreliabledataforurbanplanningandmanagement.TheelevationdataprovidedbyGPSisparticularlyimportant,asitcanbeusedtoanalyzetheterrain,createdigitalelevationmodels,andidentifypotentialhazards,suchasfloodzones. GPSelevationfittingisamethodofdeterminingtheelevationofapointontheEarth'ssurfacebasedonGPSmeasurements.ItinvolvesfittingamathematicalmodeltotheGPSdatatoestimatetheelevationofthepoint.TheaccuracyofGPSelevationfittingdependsonanumberoffactors,includingthenumberandarrangementofGPSsatellites,atmosphericconditions,andthequalityoftheGPSreceiver. Methodology: ToanalyzetheeffectivenessofGPSelevationfittinginurbancontrolsurvey,weconductedafieldexperimentinatypicalurbanarea.Weselected10pointswithinthestudyareaandcollectedGPSdatausingahigh-precisionGPSreceiver.Wealsousedatotalstationtomeasuretheelevationofeachpointforcomparison. WethenperformedGPSelevationfittingusingvariousmathematicalmodels,includinglinearregression,quadraticregression,andcubicregression.WecomparedtheresultsoftheGPSelevationfittingwiththeelevationsmeasuredusingthetotalstationtodeterminetheaccuracyofeachmodel. Results: TheresultsofourfieldexperimentshowthatGPSelevationfittingisaneffectiveandefficientmethodforurbancontrolsurvey.TheaccuracyoftheGPSelevationfittingdependsonthemathematicalmodelusedandthenumberofGPSsatellitesusedinthemeasurement.
