Introduction: Redmudisaby-productofthealuminumindustryandisprimarilymadeupofironoxideandotherminerals.Redmudisproducedinlargequantities,anditsdisposalhasbeenamajorenvironmentalissue.Researchershavebeenexploringthecharacteristicsandbehaviorofredmudparticlestobetterunderstandtheirpotentialimplicationsfortheenvironmentandtheindustry. Objectives: Theobjectivesofthisstudyweretoinvestigatethecharacteristicsofhigh-concentrationredmudparticlesandtherheologicalcharacteristicsofthematerial.Specifically,weaimedtodeterminetheparticlesizedistribution,shape,andsurfacestructureoftheredmudparticles,aswellasmeasuretheirflowbehaviorunderdifferentrheologicalconditions. Methods: Inthisstudy,weusedalaserparticleanalyzertomeasuretheparticlesizedistributionofredmudparticles.Wealsousedscanningelectronmicroscopytoinvestigatetheshapeandsurfacestructureoftheparticles.Weconductedaseriesofrheologicalteststomeasuretheflowbehaviorofhigh-concentrationredmud. Results: Ourresultsshowedthattheredmudparticleshadanaverageparticlesizeof2.87μmandawideparticlesizedistribution.Theparticlesvariedinshapeandhadroughsurfaceswithirregularshapesandedges.Therheologicaltestresultsshowedthatthehigh-concentrationredmudhadahighyieldstressandplasticviscosity.Thematerialexhibitedashear-thinningbehavior,anditsviscositydecreasedwithincreasingshearrate. Discussion: Theresultsofthisstudyhaveimportantimplicationsfortheuseanddisposalofhigh-concentrationredmud.Thematerial'shighplasticityandviscositymakeitdifficulttoworkwithanddisposeof,requiringfurtherresearchintoitspotentialapplicationsanddisposalmethods.Theshear-thinningbehaviorofthematerialmaybeusefulincertainindustrialprocesse
