高职高专公共英语教材建设历程的研究 Title:AStudyontheDevelopmentofVocationalCollegeVocationalEnglishTextbooks Introduction PublicEnglishisanessentialsubjectforstudentsinvocationalcolleges.ThedevelopmentandimprovementofpublicEnglishtextbooksarecrucialtoenhancestudents'Englishproficiencyandmeettheirpracticalneeds.ThisstudyaimstoexplorethehistoricaldevelopmentofvocationalcollegepublicEnglishtextbooks,analyzingthemainfactorsthatinfluencedtheirgrowthandidentifyinganyexistingchallengesorareasforimprovement. 1.EarlyStage(1960s-1980s) Duringthisperiod,vocationalcollegepublicEnglishteachingwasinitsinitialstages.Duetolimitedresourcesandinsufficientattentionfromeducationalauthorities,thedevelopmentofpublicEnglishtextbooksinvocationalcollegesfacedseveralchallenges.MostofthetextbooksusedwereadaptedversionsofgeneralEnglishtextbooks.Thecontentmainlyfocusedonbasicgrammar,vocabulary,andsimpledialogues,lackingrelevancetovocationaltrainingorspecificindustries. 2.TransitionPeriod(1990s-2000s) WithChina'srapideconomicdevelopmentandgrowinginternationalexchanges,thedemandforskilledworkersproficientinEnglishincreasedsignificantly.ThetransitionperiodwitnessedtheintroductionoftheCET(CollegeEnglishTest)andanemphasisoncommunicativelanguageteaching.Tobetterservevocationalstudents,thecontentofpublicEnglishtextbooksgraduallyshiftedtowardspracticalskills,suchasworkplacecommunication,businessEnglish,andtechnicalvocabulary.However,thequalityandconsistencyofthesetextbooksvariedwidelyacrossinstitutions,astherewasnounifiedstandardfortheirdevelopment. 3.ReformPeriod(2000s-Present) Inresponsetothecontemporaryneedsofvocationalstudents,thereformperiodbroughtaboutsignificantchangesinpublicEnglishtextbookdevelopment.First,astandardizedcurriculumwasestablished,emphasizingtheintegrationoflanguageskills,cross-culturalcommunication,andvocational-specificknowledge.Secondly,technology-drivenlearningresources,suchasmultimediaplatformsandonlinecourses,wereutilizedtoenhancestudents'interactiveandautonomouslearningexperiences.Moreover,
