I.Introduction ComprehensiveEnglishisakeycoursefornon-Englishmajorstudentsincollegesanduniversities.Itaimstoenhancestudents’Englishproficiencyinallaspects,includinglistening,speaking,reading,andwriting.Duetothediversityofstudents’backgroundandlearningstyle,findingasuitableteachingmodelforcomprehensiveEnglishhasalwaysbeenachallengeforEnglishteachers,educationadministrators,andstudents.Thispaperwillstartbyreviewingthetraditionalteachingmodelandthendiscussingtheadvantagesanddisadvantagesofsomeinnovativeteachingmodels. II.TraditionalTeachingModel ThetraditionalteachingmodelofcomprehensiveEnglishtakesateacher-centeredapproach,wheretheteacherpresentsthecontentinalecture-styleformat,andstudentsmainlylistenandtakenotes.Thismodelregardstheteacherasthecentralfigureintheclassroom,andstudentsplayapassiverole.Althoughthismodelhasbeenprevalentforalongtime,itisnowbeingcriticizedforitslackofinteraction,lowefficiency,andeffectiveness. III.FlippedClassroom Aflippedclassroomisanewteachingmethodthathasbeenimplementedinrecentyears.Itemphasizesstudents’activeparticipationintheclassroomandleveragestechnologytodelivercontentoutsidetheclassroom.Inaflippedclassroom,studentswatchpre-recordedlectures/videosorreadrelevantmaterialsbeforeclass,andin-classtimeisusedfordiscussion,problem-solving,andgroupwork.Thismodelencouragesstudentstotakeresponsibilityfortheirlearningandenablesteacherstodesignmoreinteractiveandparticipatoryactivities.
