TheobjectiveofthispaperistostudyandsimulateadirecttorquecontrolsystemforPMSMs.ThefollowingsectionswillintroducetheprincipleofPMSMs,explainthedesignandimplementationofthedirecttorquecontrolsystem,andpresentthesimulationresults. PrincipleofPMSMs PMSMshavearotorwithpermanentmagnetsandastatorwithwindings,whichinteractthroughamagneticfield.TherearetwotypesofPMSMs:surface-mountedpermanentmagnet(SPM)motorsandinteriorpermanentmagnetmotors(IPMs).SPMmotorshavemagnetsattachedtothesurfaceoftherotor,whileIPMshavemagnetsembeddedinsidetherotor. Thestatorwindingsareenergizedtoproducearotatingmagneticfieldthatinteractswiththerotormagnets.Asaresult,therotorrotateswithsynchronousspeedthatdependsonthefrequencyofthestatorcurrentandthenumberofpolepairs.Thetorqueproducedbythemotorisproportionaltotheproductofthemagneticfieldandthecurrent.
