Introduction Theuseofantennaarraystotransmitorreceivesignalshasbecomeincreasinglypopularovertheyearsduetotheadvancementsincommunicationtechnology.Theabilitytosteertheantennabeaminaspecificdirectionisparamountinachievingbettersignalquality,reliabilityandcoverage.Thesynthesisofthedirectionaldiagramoftheantennaarrayisacriticalaspectofachievingtheseobjectives. Variousmethodshavebeenproposedforthesynthesisofantennaarraydirectionaldiagrams,includinggeneticalgorithms,simulatedannealing,particleswarmoptimization(PSO),anddifferentialevolution.However,thesetraditionaloptimizationmethodssufferfromsomedrawbacks,includingslowconvergencerates,beingstuckinlocalminima,andaninabilitytohandleconstraints. Inrecentyears,anewtypeofPSOalgorithm,calledthestagnationdetectionPSOalgorithm,hasbeenproposed.Thealgorithmhasshownsignificantimprovementsinoptimizationefficiencywhenappliedtolarge-scaleoptimizationproblems.Therefore,inthispaper,weproposeusingthestagnationdetectionPSOalgorithmforthesynthesisofantennaarraydirectionaldiagrams. Methodology Inthisstudy,weusealinearantennaarraycomposedofN+1equallyspacedisotropicradiators.Thearrayfactorisdefinedas: AF(θ)=∑_(n=0)^Nw_ncos⁡(nθ+φ_n) Wherew_nistheweightcoefficientofthenthradiator,φ_nisthephaseshift,andθistheangleofarrival.
