一种改进的LBP特征的人脸识别方法 Title:ANovelApproachforFaceRecognitionUsinganEnhancedLBPFeature Abstract: Facerecognitionisawidelyresearchedareawithsignificantapplicationsinvarioussectors,includingsecuritysystemsandhuman-computerinteraction.LocalBinaryPatterns(LBP)isapopularfeaturedescriptorusedinfacerecognitionduetoitssimplicityandeffectiveness.However,thetraditionalLBPmethodmaysufferfromlimitationssuchassensitivitytonoiseandvariationsinillumination,pose,andexpression.Toovercomethesechallenges,thispaperproposesanenhancedLBPfeatureextractionmethodforfacerecognition. 1.Introduction: Facerecognitionisachallengingtaskduetotheinherentvariationsinfacialappearancecausedbyvariationsinlighting,pose,expression,andaging.LocalBinaryPatterns(LBP)hasbeenwidelyusedasatexturedescriptorinfacerecognition.ThetraditionalLBPoperatorcapturesthelocalstructureofanimagebycomparingtheintensityofeachpixelwithitsneighboringpixelsandencodingtheresultintobinarycodes.ThispaperaimstoenhancethetraditionalLBPmethodtoimprovefacerecognitionperformance. 2.RelatedWork: VarioustechniqueshavebeenproposedtoimprovetheperformanceofLBP-basedfacerecognition.Theseincludemulti-scaleLBP,uniformLBP,rotation-invariantLBP,andLBPhistograms.Whilethesemethodshaveshownpromisingresults,theystillhavelimitationsindealingwithvariationsinillumination,pose,andexpression. 3.ProposedEnhancedLBPFeatureExtractionMethod: TheproposedmethodincorporatesseveralimprovementstothetraditionalLBPapproachtoenhanceitsfacerecognitionperformance.Theseenhancementsinclude: 3.1.Multi-regionLBP: ThetraditionalLBPoperatorconsidersonlytheimmediateneighboringpixels.However,facialregionsthatarefurtherawaycanalsoprovidevitalinformationforfacerecognition.Therefore,theproposedmethoddividesthefaceimageintomultipleregionsandappliestheLBPoperatorindependentlytoeachregion. 3.2.AdaptiveThresholding: InthetraditionalLBPmethod,afixedthresholdisusedtocomparepixelintensities.However,variationsinilluminationcanaffecttheeffectivenessofthisthreshold.Toaddressthisissue,thepropose
