HARQinHSDPA HARQisatechniquethatenablesthereceivertodetectandcorrecterrorsinthereceiveddata.InHSDPA,HARQisusedforretransmissionofdatapacketsthatarelostorcorruptedduringthedatatransferprocess.HARQcomprisestwotypesoferrorcorrectionmethods:ARQandFEC. ARQisatechniqueinwhichthereceiversendsarequesttothesendertoresenddatapacketsthatarelostorcorruptedduringthedatatransferprocess.ARQisusedinHSDPAforretransmissionofthedatapacketsthatarelostorcorruptedduringthedatatransferprocess.ARQisareliableerrorcorrectionmethodthatensuresthatthelostorcorrupteddatapacketsareretransmitted. FECisatechniqueinwhichadditionaldatabitsareaddedtotheoriginaldatapackettoprotectitfromerrorsduringtransmission.FECisusedinHSDPAtoencodetheoriginaldatapacketwithadditionalbitstoprotectitfromerrorsduringthedatatransferprocess.FECisalessreliableerrorcorrectionmethodthanARQbutismoreefficientthanARQbecauseitdoesnotrequireretransmissionofthelostorcorrupteddatapacket.
