Introduction Asphaltmixturesarecommonlyusedintheconstructionofroadsduetotheireasyavailability,lowcost,andeaseofconstruction.However,thelackofsufficientstrength,poordurability,andsusceptibilitytodamagebyharshweatherconditionshaveresultedinthedevelopmentofnewandmodifiedasphaltmixtures.Theadditionofmodifiersisaneffectiveapproachtoimprovetheperformanceofasphaltmixtures.Amongthevariousmodifiers,basaltfiberhasbeenproventobeapromisingnewadditionforimprovingthestabilityandmechanicalpropertiesofasphaltmixtures. Basaltfiber,atypeofinorganicfiber,isobtainedfromthevolcanicrocksofbasalticorigin.Duetoitshighstrengthandthermalstability,basaltfiberhasbeenusedinvariousapplications,includingconstruction,automotive,andaerospaceindustries.Theuseofbasaltfiberasamodifierinasphaltmixturesprovidesanopportunitytoincreasethestrengthanddurabilityofasphaltroads,reducemaintenancecosts,andenhancethesafetyofroadusers. Inthisstudy,theeffectofbasaltfiberontheperformanceofasphaltmixtureswasinvestigated.Theobjectiveoftheresearchwastodeterminetheoptimalcontentofbasaltfiberinasphaltmixturestoachievethebestperformance.
