TheSmithpredictor(SP)isacontrolstrategythatiswidelyusedtoovercometheeffectsoftimedelayinprocesscontrolsystems.ItwasfirstintroducedbyOwenSmithin1957andhassincebecomeapopularcontrolmethodduetoitssimplicityandeffectiveness.ThispaperdiscussestheapplicationofSPcontrolintime-delaysystemsinprocesscontrol.
