Thistechniqueisbasedontheanalysisoftheresidualcurvatureofangle-domaincommonimagegathers(ADCIGs)tocalculatemigrationvelocitiesaccurately.Thispaperwilloutlinethefundamentalprinciplesoftheresidualcurvaturemethodanddescribeitsimplementationforvelocityanalysisduringmigration. Introduction: Migrationisafundamentaltechniqueinseismicimagingusedtoproducehigh-resolutionimagesoftheEarth'ssubsurface.However,theaccuracyoftheresultingimagesdependsontheprecisionofthevelocitymodelusedduringtheimagingprocess.Therefore,velocityanalysisishighlycrucialandnecessaryforsuccessfulimaging.Severaltechniqueshavebeendevelopedforvelocityanalysis,includingthesemblancemethod,Dixinversion,andfullwaveforminversion.However,thesetechniqueshavesomelimitationssuchashighcomputationalcosts,limitedaccuracy,andinsufficientresolution. Recently,theangle-domaincommonimagegatheringresidualcurvaturemethodhasemergedasapowerfulandpromisingapproachforvelocityanalysis.Thismethodutilizesthecurvatureofangle-domaincommonimagegathers(ADCIGs)toestimatethecorrectmigrationvelocities.Theresidualcurvaturemethodisnotonlymoreaccuratethantraditionalvelocityanalysistechniquesbutalsooffersothersignificantbenefitssuchaslowcomputationalcosts,improvedresolution,andbetterpenetration.
