Introduction Planetarygearboxesareanessentialcomponentinmanyheavy-dutyandhigh-torquepowertransmissionapplicationswherehighprecision,efficiency,andcompactsizearerequired.Thesegearboxesarewidelyusedinrobotics,automationmachinery,aerospace,andheavymachineryindustries.Oneofthefundamentalchallengesinplanetarygearboxdesignistoreducethetotalnumberofteethengagedincontactatanyonetime.Thisisbecausetheseloadscausesignificantstressconcentration,whichincreaseswearandtearontheteethanddecreasestheservicelifeofthegearbox. Toaddressthischallenge,adouble-offsetplanetarygearboxwithlowtoothdifferencehasbeendesignedandanalyzedinthispaper.Thedesignofthisplanetarygearboxisbasedonthefollowingfundamentalprinciples:alowgearratio,reductionofthenumberofactiveteethincontact,andloaddistributiontoreducetoothstressconcentration.
