Introduction: Airborneremotesensingplatforms,suchassatellitesandaerialdrones,offerauniqueperspectiveforcapturinghigh-resolutionimagesoftheEarth'ssurface.However,inmanyregions,atmosphericphenomena,suchasfog,haze,andsmog,canobstructtheclarityoftheacquiredimages.Amongtheseatmosphericconditions,fogisaparticularchallengeduetoitsdenseandspatiallyvaryingnature.Removingfogfromairborneremotesensingimagesisvitaltoimprovevisibility,enhanceinterpretability,andfacilitatesubsequentimageanalysistasks. DarkChannelPrior: Thedarkchannelprioralgorithmiswidelyusedforhazeorfogremovalinnaturalimages.Itexploitstheobservationthatinmostoutdoorimages,theintensityofatleastonecolorchannelinnon-foggyregionsisclosetozeroduetothescatteringoflightbytheairmoleculesandthepresenceofaerosols.Byidentifyingthepixelswiththelow-intensityvaluesacrossthecolorchannels,anestimationoftheatmosphericlightcomponentcanbeobtained.Additionally,thealgorithmcalculatesthetransmissionmap,whichrepresentstheratioofthesceneradiancetotheatmosphericlightateachpixel.Thistransmissionmapallowsfortherestorationoftheoriginalsceneinformationbyattenuatingtheeffectsoffog.
