Introduction Thedeploymentofrelaynodesinwirelesscommunicationnetworkshasbecomeapopularapproachforextendingnetworkcoverageandimprovingtransmissionperformance.Incooperativecommunication,relaynodescanhelpthesourcenodetotransmitthedatatothedestinationnodebyrelayingthedatatothedestinationnode.However,therelaychannelsoftensufferfromnon-idealconditionssuchasfading,interference,andnoise,whichmaysignificantlydegradethetransmissionperformance. Turbocodeisapowerfulerrorcorrectioncodethathasbeenwidelyusedinwirelesscommunicationsystems.Thecodecanachievegooderrorcorrectionperformancewithlowcomplexity.Inthispaper,westudytheperformanceofcooperativecommunicationusingTurbocodesundernon-idealrelayconditions. SystemModel Weconsideracooperativecommunicationsystemwithonesourcenode,onedestinationnode,andonerelaynode.Thesourcenodetransmitsthedatatotherelaynode,andtherelaynoderelaysthedatatothedestinationnode.Weassumethatallnodesareequippedwithasingleantenna. ThechannelbetweenthesourcenodeandtherelaynodeismodeledasaRayleighfadingchannelwithadditivewhiteGaussiannoise(AWGN).ThechannelbetweentherelaynodeandthedestinationnodeisalsomodeledasaRayleighfadingchannelwithAWGN.Thechannelcoefficientsareassumedtobeconstantduringthetransmissionofonedatapacket. Inthispaper,weuseTurbocodestoperformerrorcorrectioninthecooperativecommunicationsystem.TheTurbocodeconsistsoftworecursivesystematicconvolutional(RSC)codesconnectedwithaninterleaver.TheTurbodecoderusesaniterativealgorithmtodecodethereceiveddataanditerativelyex
