Introduction Mufflersarewidelyusedinvariousindustriestoreducenoisepollution.Theyworkbyabsorbing,reflectinganddiffusingnoiseenergy.Theendcapisanimportantpartofthemuffler,whichplaysavitalroleinnoisereduction.Theoptimizationoftheendcapmorphologycangreatlyimprovethenoisereductionperformanceofthemuffler.Thetraditionalendcapdesignismainlybasedonempiricalformulasandtrialanderrormethods,whicharetime-consumingandinefficient.Withthedevelopmentofoptimizationtechnology,engineerscanusecomputersimulationsoftwaretooptimizetheendcapmorphologyofmufflers.Inthispaper,weusedOptiStructtooptimizetheendcapmorphologyofamuffler. Methodology TheprocessofoptimizingtheendcapmorphologyofamufflerusingOptiStructisasfollows: 1.Establishathree-dimensionalmodelofthemufflerandmeshitusingfiniteelementanalysis. 2.Definetheoptimizationparameters,suchasthethicknessandshapeoftheendcap. 3.Settheoptimizationconstraints,suchastheminimumandmaximumdimensionsoftheendcap. 4.PerformtheoptimizationcalculationsusingOptiStruct. 5.Analyzeandevaluatetheoptimizedresults. ResultsandDiscussion Theinitialmodelofthemufflerwasestablished,andtheendcapmorphologywasoptimizedusingOptiStruct.Theoptimizationparameterswerethethicknessandshapeoftheendcap.Theoptimizationconstraintsweretheminimumandmaximumdimensionsoftheendcap.Theoptimizationresultsshowedthattheoptimizedendcapmorphologyhadasignificantimpactonthenoisereductionperformanceofthemuffler.Theoptimizedendcaphadathickerwallthicknessthanthetraditionaldesign,whichincreased
