Design: Thedesignofthem-sequencegeneratorinvolvesselectingafeedbackpolynomialfortheshiftregister.Thefeedbackpolynomialdeterminesthesequencegeneratedbytheshiftregister.Thefeedbackpolynomialmustbeaprimitivepolynomialinordertogenerateamaximum-lengthsequence.Aprimitivepolynomialisapolynomialthatgeneratesasequenceofmaximumlengthforagivennumberofbits.Thepolynomialfora4-bitshiftregisterisx^4+x+1.Thispolynomialgeneratesamaximum-lengthsequenceof15bits.Them-sequencegeneratorbasedon74LS194consistsoffour74LS194scascadedtogethertoforma16-bitshiftregister.
