过程写作法在大学公共英语写作教学中的应用研究 Abstract Processwriting,asawidelyusedwritingapproach,aimsathelpingstudentsdevelopwritingskillsbyfocusingontheprocessofwriting.ThispaperexplorestheimplementationandapplicationofprocesswritingtheoryincollegeEnglishwritingteaching.First,thepapersummarizesthecharacteristicsofprocesswritingandtheadvantagesitbringstostudents'writingperformance.Then,thestudyusesaliteraturereviewtoanalyzetherelevantliteratureontheapplicationofprocesswritingincollegeEnglishwritingteaching.Finally,basedontheanalysisoftheliterature,thispaperprovidessomesuggestionsforimprovingtheteachingofEnglishwritingthroughprocesswritinginthecontextofcollegeeducationinChina. Keywords:Processwriting;CollegeEnglishWriting;Teaching;WritingSkillsDevelopment Introduction Writingisanimportantskillthatstudentsneedtomasterincollege.However,manystudents,especiallythosefromnon-English-speakingcountries,oftenstruggletoproducemeaningfulandcoherentwrittentextsinEnglish.Thisismainlyduetothefactthattheyhavedifficultyinintegratingtheirideasandexpressingtheminanappropriatewaywithinaculturalcontextthatmaydifferfromtheirown.Inordertohelpstudentsovercomethisbarrier,manyapproacheshavebeendevelopedtoteachEnglishwriting.Amongtheseapproaches,processwritingisbecomingincreasinglypopularinmanyuniversitiesaroundtheworld. ProcessWriting Processwritingisawritingapproachthatfocusesonthewritingprocessratherthanthefinalproduct.Itemphasizestheimportanceofprewritingandediting,aswellasthedraftingstageofwriting.TheprocesswritingapproachhasbeenwidelyusedinEnglishlanguageteachingsincethelate1970s.Processwritingisregardedasanaturalapproachtoteachingwritingbecauseitsupportsthestudents’naturalprogressionthroughthewritingprocess(WhiteandArndt,1991). Theprocesswritingapproachsuggeststhatwritersshouldtakeanumberofstepsinordertoproduceasuccessfulpieceofwriting.Thesestepsincludebrainstorming,organizingideas,drafting,revising,andediting.Studentsareencouragedtobrainstorm,clusterandmaptheirideas,andthenorganizethoseideasintoanoutlineo
