Introduction: Cosmeticsarewidelyusedproductsthatcomeincontactwiththeskinandareofteningestedorabsorbedintothebody.However,theymaycontainheavymetals,includinglead,whichcanposeserioushealthrisks.Therefore,itisessentialtodevelopaccurateandreliablemethodsforthedeterminationofleadincosmetics.Atomicabsorptionspectroscopy(AAS)isacommonlyemployedtechniqueduetoitshighsensitivityandselectivity.However,toensurethereliabilityoftheAASmethod,itiscrucialtoevaluatetheuncertaintyassociatedwiththemeasurement. Methodology: TheuncertaintyanalysisofAASinvolvestheidentificationandquantificationofvarioussourcesofuncertainty.Thefirstsourceofuncertaintyisprecision,whichcanbeassessedbyanalyzingtherepeatabilityofthemeasurement.Thisisdonebyanalyzingmultiplereplicatemeasurementsofthesamesample.Thestandarddeviationofthereplicatemeasurementsprovidesanestimateoftherandomerrorwithinthemeasurement. Thesecondsourceofuncertaintyisaccuracy,whichcanbeevaluatedbyanalyzingacertifiedreferencematerial(CRM).TheCRMshouldcontainaknownconcentrationofleadthatcanbecomparedwiththemeasuredvalueusingtheAASmethod.Thedifferencebetweenthemeasuredandcertifiedvaluesprovidesanestimateofthesystematicerrororbiasinthemeasurement.
