Introduction Greycastironisatypeofcastironthatcontainsgraphiteflakesinitsmicrostructure.Itschemicalcompositiontypicallyincludescarbon(2%-4%),silicon(1%-3%),andsmallamountsofsulfur,manganese,andphosphorus.Greycastironiswidelyusedinmanyindustriesowingtoitsgoodcastingperformanceandexcellentmechanicalpropertiessuchaswearresistance,gooddampingcapacity,andhighthermalconductivity.Still,itsmechanicalpropertiescanbeimprovedthroughtheadditionofalloyingelements. Chromium(Cr)andtin(Sn)areamongthemostcommonlyusedalloyingelementsingreycastiron,duetotheirvariousbenefits.ThispaperaimstodiscusstheimpactofChromiumandTinonthemicrostructureandmechanicalpropertiesofgreycastiron.Thepaperalsohighlightstheapplicationsofthesetwoelementsintheindustry.
