Introduction Withtherapiddevelopmentoftheelectricityindustry,thepowertransmissioncapacityofultrahighvoltage(UHV)systemscontinuestoincrease.UHVsystemshavetheadvantagesoflesslandoccupation,lowtransmissionloss,andhightransmissionefficiency,whicharecrucialfactorsforpromotinggreenenergydevelopment.However,withUHVtransmissiontechnologyadvancing,theultra-highvoltageconverterstationisthemostimportantkeylinkinUHVpowergrid,anditsoperatingreliabilityandstabilitydirectlyaffectthesafeandefficientoperationoftheUHVpowergrid. OperatingovervoltageisoneofthemainfactorsaffectingthesafeandreliableoperationoftheUHVconverterstation.Itcancauseinsulationbreakdownofequipment,reducetheinsulationlife,andevenleadtothecollapseofthepowergrid,resultinginhugeeconomicandsociallosses.Therefore,itisparticularlyimportanttostudytheoperatingovervoltageoftheUHVconverterstation.
