基于FPGA的VGA汉字显示器设计 I.Introduction FPGA(Field-ProgrammableGateArray)isaflexiblehardwareplatformthatcanbereconfiguredtoimplementarangeofdigitalcircuitsandsystems.Itisanelectronicdevicethatcanbeprogrammedtoperformvarioustypesoflogicoperations,makingitidealfordigitalsignalprocessingapplications,suchasimageandvideoprocessing.OneofthemostpopularapplicationsofFPGAtechnologyisinthedesignofVGA(VideoGraphicsArray)displays,whichcanbeusedtodisplayimagesandtextonascreen.Inthispaper,wewilldiscussthedesignofaVGAcharacterdisplayusinganFPGA. II.VGACharacterDisplay AVGAcharacterdisplayisadevicethatcandisplaytextcharactersonascreen.Thetextcharactersarestoredinanarrayandaredisplayedonthescreenoneatatime.TheVGAcharacterdisplayconsistsofthreemaincomponents:aVGAcontroller,acharactergenerator,andamemoryunit. TheVGAcontrollergeneratestheVGAsignalthatissenttothedisplay.Ittakesinputfromthememoryunitanddecodesittoformtheimagethatisdisplayedonthescreen.Thecharactergeneratorgeneratesthebinarycodeforthetextcharactersthataretobedisplayed.Thememoryunitstoresthecharacterdatathatistobedisplayed.TheFPGAisusedtoimplementtheVGAcontrollerandthecharactergenerator. III.HardwareDesign ThehardwaredesignoftheVGAcharacterdisplayconsistsofthefollowingmodules: 1.VGAController TheVGAcontrollergeneratestheVGAsignalthatissenttothedisplay.Ittakesinputfromthememoryunitanddecodesittoformtheimagethatisdisplayedonthescreen.TheVGAcontrollerconsistsofthefollowingsub-modules: a.TimingGenerator:ThetiminggeneratorgeneratesthetimingsignalsrequiredfortheVGAsignal.Thesesignalsincludethehorizontalandverticalsyncsignals,thepixelclocksignal,andtheblankingsignals. b.AddressCounter:Theaddresscounterisusedtoaddressthememoryunit.Itgeneratestherowandcolumnaddressesforthecharacterdatathatistobedisplayed. c.CharacterDecoder:Thecharacterdecoderdecodesthecharacterdatafromthememoryunitandgeneratesthepixeldataforthecharacters. 2.CharacterGenerator Thecharactergeneratorgeneratesthebinarycodeforthetextcharactersthataretobedisplayed.Ittakesinput
