Introduction Weldingisacommonlyusedjoiningprocessintheautomobilemanufacturingindustry,andweldingspatterisacommonproblemintheweldingprocess,whichaffectstheweldingquality,productivity,andtheworkingenvironment.Weldingspatterreferstothedropletsofmoltenmetalthatareejectedfromtheweldpoolduringtheweldingprocess.Thesedropletsmaysolidifyandadheretothenearbysurfaces,affectingthevisualappearanceoftheweld,andinseverecases,leadingtoporosityandcracksintheweld[1]. Intheweldingprocess,spatterisprimarilycausedbythespatteringofmoltenmetaldropletsfromtheweldpool.Thiscanbeduetoseveralfactors,suchasweldingspeed,weldingcurrent,electrodegap,electrodeangle,andshieldinggasflowrate.Spattercontrolisacrucialaspectofwelding,andnumeroustechniqueshavebeendevelopedforcontrollingspatter,suchasadjustingtheprocessparameters,optimizingtheweldingequipment,andusinganti-spattercoatingsandsprays[2]. Inthispaper,weproposetheuseofanovelspattercontrolsystemonthemainweldinglineattheBeijingBenzAutomotiveCo.,Ltd.(BBAC)usinglasersensors.Thissystemisdesignedtomonitortheweldingprocessinreal-time,detectspatter,andcontrolspattergenerationbyadjustingtheweldingparameters.
