Introduction: Siliconerubberinsulatorshavegainedpopularityinpowersystemsduetotheirsuperiorelectricalandmechanicalproperties.Theyofferhighdielectricstrength,excellenthydrophobicity,andresistancetoenvironmentalstresses.Nevertheless,theirperformancemaybecompromisedundercertainconditions,suchasthepresenceofcontaminantsormoistureontheirsurfaces.Theformationofagellayeronthesurfaceofsiliconerubberinsulators,calledthegelstate,maysignificantlyaffecttheirelectricalflashovercharacteristics.Thispaperaimstoinvestigatetheimpactofgelstateontheinsulationperformanceofsiliconerubberinsulators. ExperimentalSetup: Tostudytheinfluenceofthegelstateonelectricalflashovercharacteristics,alaboratorysetupwasestablished.Theexperimentalsetupincludesahighvoltagepowersupply,asiliconerubbersample,apollutionchamber,andahigh-speedcameraforrecordingflashoverevents.Avarietyofsampleswereprepared,representingdifferentgelstates,includingdry,wet,anddifferentlevelsofcondensationonthesurface.
