TotalStationSurveyingtechniqueisawidelyavailableandpowerfulinstrumentusedtomonitorandmapthedeformationofstructures.Theaccuracyofthistechniquedependsonthequalityofinstrumentsandequipmentandtheexperienceandskillsofthepersonneloperatingthem.GNSSisasatellitenavigationsystemthatenablesaccurateandreliablepositioningandmonitoringofstructureswithgreatspeedandprecision.Inclinometerisasensorusedtomeasuretheslopeorinclinationofstructuresandisidealformeasuringtheinclinationofembankmentsandfoundationsystems. InSARusessatellitedatatorecordchangesintheheightofstructurescausedbygroundmovement,thusitissuitableformonitoringthedeformationoftallbuildings.Digitalphotogrammetryisamethodthatusesaerialphotographsfortriangulationmeasurementstocreateprecisethree-dimensionalmodelsofsurfacesandstructures.Thenon-contactnatureofthistechniquemakesitsuitableformonitoringdeformationinhigh-risestructureswheretheuseoftraditionalsurveyingequipmentcanbechallenging.
