Keywords:Shortconductor,metalcavity,shieldingeffectiveness,leakagepath,simulation Introduction Inmodernelectronicdevicesandsystems,electromagneticinterference(EMI)hasbecomeacriticalissuethatrequireseffectivemeasuresformitigationandprevention.EMIcancausesystemmalfunction,datacorruptionorloss,andevenposeriskstohumansafety.Therefore,theuseofshieldingstructuresiscommontoattenuatetheradiatedandconductedEMIsignals.AshieldingstructuretypicallyconsistsofametalliccavitythatenclosesthedeviceorsubsystemandreducestheEMIleakagestotheenvironment.However,theshieldingeffectivenessofthemetalliccavityisaffectedbyvariousfactors,includingthepresenceofshortconductorsorcomponentswithinthecavity.Theshortconductorscanintroduceadditionalleakagepathsthatbypasstheshieldingstructureandreduceitseffectiveness. Inthispaper,weaimtoinvestigatetheimpactofshortconductorsontheshieldingeffectivenessofametalliccavityandtoexplorethemeansbywhichtheshieldingperformancecanbeenhanced. Methodology Weusesimulationmethodsbasedonelectromagneticfieldtheoriestoanalyzetheimpactofshortconductorsontheshieldingeffectivenessofthemetalliccavity.Themetalliccavityisconsideredtobeanidealrectangularboxwithspecifieddimensions,madeofaperfectelectricconductor(PEC).ThecavityisexcitedbyaplanewavethatrepresentstheEMIsignal.Thesimulationisperformedusingacommercialelectromagneticsimulationsoftware(CSTMi
